Pep Guardiola:
Manchester City don’t want revenge in Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid
Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals at the Bernabéu on Tuesday. Follow the latest from Spain on Sky Sports’ Live Match Blog for kick-off at 20:00. Man City manager Pep Guardiola said:
“We are not here to take revenge”
Pep Guardiola insisted revenge wasn’t his motivation when he set up Manchester City for their Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid.
City were beaten hard by the Spanish side in the last four a year ago and have a chance to make amends this season.
With the first leg of the final matchup at the Bernabéu on Tuesday, Guardiola is more focused on the current game than looking back over the past 12 months.
The mayor said:
“It was tough, but I played a great first match in Manchester and I played really well here.
“Overall it was a good performance, but it wasn’t enough. They congratulated them, they accepted it and here we are a year later.”
“We’re not here to get revenge. This is another opportunity. We’ll get it one day. We’ll make it to the finals and win it.”
